Doordash: What Illinoisans Order Most on Super Bowl Sunday
If you needed proof that Super Bowl Sunday is basically a national eating holiday, Doordash just dropped it. None of this is really shocking, especially in Illinois.
Last year alone, more than 5.7M Doordash orders were placed on the day of the Big Game. Yeah, 5,700,000. Football fans across the country decided cooking was not the move, clearly. Doordash even hit its peak during pre-game with literally 155 orders PER SECOND! I mean, who wants to miss the kickoff waiting in a line for food?

The MVP of Super Bowl Sunday is chicken wings. We placed more than 639K orders, which is 25% more than any other day out of the year. If you calculate it, it's over 3.8M wings eaten in one day (bone-in wings, get it right). In 44 states, including Illinois, bone-in beat out boneless... AS IT SHOULD! And Buffalo was the favorite flavor in most states, too.
Pizza came in very close second with 637K orders and pepperoni was the top topping, aside from just plain cheese. Super Bowl pizza hits different, I will say. It's not fancy. It's reliable. It hits every year.

Oh, here's a pro tip: Order by 4:30pm and your food will arrive before the coin toss (hopefully). Nothing ruins game day faster than watching your wings get delayed or never arrive. So, what's your game day go-to food order? I know I'm not cooking, nope. I'll be ordering food for delivery, for sure.
