Study: Fast Growing Suburb Dubbed Illinois’ Biggest ‘Boomtown’
Looking for a place to live that many would say is absolutely "booming?"
Then, you should check out Plainfield.
According to a recent study by GoBankingRates, Plainfield has been named the fastest-growing "boomtown" in Illinois.
There are plenty of reasons why it grew so quickly, and it's simple to see why.
Why Plainfield is Booming
The study shows Plainfield has grown by nearly 10% in the last 10 years, adding over 4000 residents and putting the current population near 45,000.
It's not just people who make Plainfield; it's the money behind the people who live there, too, with a whopping 33% rise in per-capita income, with an average of $53,000 yearly.
Houses are feeling the boom, too, with a nearly 15% leap in occupied housing and a nearly 18% rise in owner-occupied homes.
These numbers show Plainfield is doing more than just growing; the whole town is thriving.
The Midwest is Thriving, Too!
That's not it for the Midwest, though. Madison is considered Wisconsin's top "boomtown" just north of us in Rockford.
Madison's population has grown 11% since 2014, and the housing market 14%.
Madison has more people, but its per capita income is slightly lower than Plainfield's, at $46,652.
What Makes a Boomtown?
If you're wondering what makes a "boomtown," GoBankingRates examined population growth, increased income, and housing trends to determine the biggest boomtowns.
Because Plainfield grew exponentially in the last 10 years, it is why they are called Illinois' biggest boomtown.
