Five of America’s Very Best Little Cities are in Illinois
Apparently, small-town life is where it's at.
That's because people are moving out of big cities and populating smaller cities across America.
It's not only happening in Illinois, this is a trend seen around the country.
The difference is, The Land of Lincoln has plenty of great smallish cities to choose from if you're ready to leave the hustle and bustle behind.
WalletHub says "city growth is slowing down while suburbanization is rising, and movement out of cities is spurred by fear of COVID-19 this year."
So they ranked the best small cities to live in and wouldn't you know it, five of the top 100 are in Illinois.
Elmhurst was ranked the highest of them all, coming in at #45. With an overall score of 67.93, Economic Health was the metric they graded highest.
Not far behind was Highland Park at #50 and they scored highest in the Safety category.
Wheaton was listed as the 59th best small city in America. Health and Education was their highest ranking score.
Just two places down on the list sits Park Ridge. Coming in at #61, Safety was their highest-rated metric.
The final Illinois little city in the top 100 was Glen Ellyn at #64. Again, Safety was the top-scoring category.
While it seems keeping people and their families safe is the top priority (as it should be) those are just a few of the deciding factors when coming up with the list of the best small towns in America by Wallethub.
