Free activities are the best activities.

While I don't have any kids of my own, I remember being one, and being cooped up inside my house bored out of my mind in the winter.

It's too cold to play outside but indoor fun can be pretty detrimental to mom and dad's bank accounts.

Luckily, this winter, Chicago museums have established free days! So all you have to take care of is the cost to get downtown and the usual fees of up to $20 are wiped away.

According to Chicago On the Cheap, here are the free days for 2016:

  • Adler Planetarium: January 18-22, 25-29; February 1-3, 8-10, 15-17, 22-24, 29
