Fuel Fight? Rockford Gas Stations Engage in Price War
You're in luck if you live on Rockford's east side and need to fill up your gas tank.
That's because MyStateline is reporting a significant event near the soon-to-open Hard Rock Casino - a 'price war' directly affecting our community.
In case you don't know, that's when one store, in this case, a gas station, decides to drop the price of its products to entice customers who might not usually stop to win their business.
That typically causes the nearby store or gas station to drop prices to match the sudden cut.
What's unique about this situation is that not one but two different gas stations have decided to lower the cost of a gallon of gas, sparking a rare "price war."
If you're keeping score, QuikTrip at 8070 East State Street dropped their prices first.

Kelly Williamson Mobil and BP soon followed suit.
What that means for us is, "Hey, we're saving money on gas."

If you're not a QuikTrip, Kelly Williamson, or BP customer, do you go there to save some money on gas?
Do you find yourself loyal to a particular gas station, as the story at MyStateline suggested, and was backed up by people who admitted they are loyal to it?
Is this true? I've never considered that I might lean one way or the other for my fueling needs, but I may have yet to pay much attention.
Do you have a preferred gas station, or do you choose the best for your wallet?
