After the news of yet another Granite City closure, I'm beginning to wonder if the Rockford location's days are numbered.

Just this past week, two Indiana Granite City restaurants, another in the Cleveland area and one in East Peoria, Illinois were shuttered.

In its second-quarter financial report, Granite City said it is in default to creditor Citizens Bank and has failed to make all principal payments and most interest payments on its debt with the bank since March 31, 2018.

Since the end of June, Granite City has closed 7 of its 32 restaurants nationwide. Purely speculating, and I hope I'm wrong, but historically, when chain restaurants nearby start closing it usually means more are on the way.

Granite City, 7140 Harrison Avenue Suite 108, has mostly positive reviews on Yelp with visitors mentioning the "good value on beer," "delicious food" and "excellent servers."

There has been no mention of potentially closing Granite City in Rockford thus far, so that's a good thing. We just hope it stays that way.
