Breakups are hard.  Living in the most heartbroken city in America sounds even worse.

If I had to guess, I'd say Los Angeles would be at the top of the list because so many people are focused on chasing their dreams more than seeking a future with someone.

Unfortunately, my guess is very, very wrong.

According to CreditDonkey, Chicago ranked #1 as America's most heartbroken city.

CreditDonkey analyzed statistics on relationship statuses, divorce rates, and breakups in cities all across the US, and the Windy City, sadly, made it on top.

After I did some of my own research, I noticed Chicago has a higher % of single and divorced people compared to other cities.  Like... 30% of residents in Chicago have gone through at least one split.

With nearly 2.7 million people living in Chicago and having business-oriented mindsets, you can only suspect a large amount of breakups and divorces.  Right?

It's definitely difficult to find time to maintain a strong, healthy relationship with someone who really loves you when you're so absorbed in your success.

It is important to note that heartbreak is a universal experience, and in the end we will all find closure from a breakup - the pain doesn't last forever!
