Hidden Gem Restaurant in Illinois Receives Prestigious Honor
You've got to love a state program that shines a light on the small business.
It's even better when you realize a restaurant that deserves more pub than it gets is the recipient of that love.
The Illinois Office of Tourism has been highlighting unique businesses through a program called Illinois Made since 2016 and this class is the biggest yet.
State Senator Sara Feigenholtz:
Today, we celebrate the creators, makers and artisans powering Illinois’ economy and bringing us our favorite foods, drinks and products.
Candy stores, distilleries, wineries, breweries, and restaurants are featured but only one in Rockford got the nod as Illinois Made for 2023.
Have you had a meal at The Norwegian? The Norwegian serves "brunch with a Nordic twist, and we create a new dinner menu every week. We try to be inclusive in our practices, conscious in our consumption, and active in our community."
If that sounds good to you and you have yet to grab lunch or dinner at this place you might want to check it out. Especially considering it was named to the Illinois Made list.
Norwegian fans already love the place, with it scoring a 4.5 out of 5 on Yelp. Michael P. says "This place always slaps. Not a bad thing to say ever. I drive down from Wisconsin just to go here." Not sure if this is the most in-depth review of a restaurant ever but I love it so much.
On the other hand, there are some who aren't as enamored with what The Norwegian has to offer. Traveler G. says "What a disappointment....Overpriced for average quality and small portions."
Decide for yourself. Check out The Norwegian at 1402 North Main Street. After all, the place is officially Illinois Made.
