‘House of Cards’ Confirms Shortened Final Season Shooting in 2018
Weeks have gone by without much update on House of Cards’ future, and Netflix has finally made it official. Production will resume without Kevin Spacey in 2018, albeit with a modified episode order.
Netflix confirmed on Monday that Robin Wright will lead the sixth and final season of House of Cards, which begins production of its eight episode order in 2018. The Hollywood Reporter also notes that Season 6 was previously ordered for thirteen episodes, two of which were already completed.
Production shuttered after actor Anthony Rapp made allegations of sexual assault against Spacey, and the hiatus was previously projected to last until December 8. Writers were reportedly considering killing off Spacey’s Frank Underwood, and we know that Spacey will not film any additional scenes to explain his character’s exit.
It remains unclear if Netflix will move forward with any of the series’ proposed spinoffs. Stay tuned for more as House of Cards gears up for the final season in 2018.
