Some people might think summer is ice cream season...but most of us in the Midwest know every season is ice cream season, you just might need a flavor twist from a local apple orchard in the fall!

Growing up in the suburbs, I spent most of my free time at the mall than anywhere else. Which is why I pretty much missed apple orchard season throughout my childhood.

Sure, my parents would take us to pick pumpkins every fall, but it was definitely more about Halloween than just enjoying the fall or picking apples.

Then I moved to Rockford and realized I've been missing out! Apple Orchards are truly the essence of September! (Don't get me wrong, I still love the mall and I was there on Saturday...)

Sunshine is also the essence September, which means you have to have ice cream on hand. Thankfully, you can enjoy the fall flavors of an apple orchard and some creamy ice cream this September at Dairyhaus in Rockton.

On September 1, Dairyhaus posted on Facebook that they've teamed up with Edwards Apple Orchard West again this year to add 'Apple Cobbler' and 'Pumpkin Spice Crunch,' back to the menu!

If you want more details, which of course I do, the post goes on to explain exactly what's in each flavor:

Apple Cobbler is a yummy cinnamon apple ice cream made fresh with Edwards West apples! A hand-stirred oat crumble compliments this yummy fall treat! Pumpkin Spice Crunch is made just like real pumpkin pie—real pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg & all of the spices that you expect, with bits of crunchy pie crust throughout!

I have got to visit before Apple Cobbler season is over! Which flavor would you try first?
