One of my favorite idioms is "the grass is always greener on the other side."
This new list from WalletHub is a prime example of what we've got going on here in Illinois: it's a lot better than most states.
That's because, while we spend a lot of time complaining about the Land of Lincoln online and to friends and family, we must be having a heck of a good time doing it.

WalletHub Study Ranks Illinois Above Nevada and New York
In a new study, Illinois was ranked among the most fun states in America, beating out states like New York and Nevada.
Looking at all 50 states, WalletHub used 26 different factors across two different categories: entertainment/recrateions and nightlife.
Researchers also considered things like:
- Movie ticket prices
- Restaurants and attractions
- Access to national parks
- Casinos
- Nightlife
- Beer and wine prices

The Top 10 Most Fun States in America
Apparently, the ranking supports this, as Illinois ranked 3rd overall. Pretty high praise, considering I've heard time and again how awful and boring it is to live in this state.
