Is it time to Ban Carnival Rides in Illinois?
At what point do we put safety over fun? Another child is severely injured in a carnival ride accident in the Land of Lincoln, and it has people asking whether we should do away with the rides altogether.
NBC Chicago is reporting on a 10-year-old suburban Chicago boy who had to be airlifted to a hospital after suffering an injury from a carnival ride this past weekend. In the story they say...
"According to a press release from the Village of Antioch Police Department, Antioch Police and Fire officials responded to the scene at 2:40 p.m. Sunday for a reports of a child injured on a carnival ride. Upon arrival, crews discovered a child, 10, "appeared to have been thrown from a carnival ride," the release said...Following the incident, Antioch Mayor Scott Gartner ordered that all rides at the carnival be shut down to "allow officials to review safety of each ride," the release said."

I'm not trying to be the NO FUN police but at what point do we say...ehhhh no more carnival rides... Every parent's worst nightmare is seeing their child injured in an accident like this one in suburban Chicago, and with county fair season underway across the state this story is a warning to parents. One of the things that really gets me is that these rides aren't cheap, parents spend a LOT of money to buy the tickets for the kids to ride these rides, you'd expect them to be as safe as possible but we all know they are not.
Should the state of Illinois do something about carnival rides, or is this truly a ride at your own risk and hope it's not your kid who is injured next.
