He's one of the biggest country singers ever. He just released his latest studio album, and it contains a song about a missed connection here in Minnesota.

While Minnesota is known as the North Star State or the Bold North (which was used while promoting our region ahead of Super Bowl LII, held at US Bank Stadium in February 2018), you'd think our fair state was located much farther south, given how popular some country music performers are here.

Take Garth Brooks, for example. You have to go back four years to find the last time Garth was here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. It was May of 2019, and Garth was set to perform two shows on his Stadium Tour at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

Before his shows on Friday, May 3rd, and Saturday, May 4th, Garth held a press conference which I was lucky enough to attend. During the event, Garth spoke with great reverence on how much he admires Minnesota, and how good all of us here in the North Star State have been to him over the years.

Garth said Minnesota will always have a special place in his heart because early in his career, Minnesota radio stations were some of the first to play his music and, as he said, 'that was the reason other things happened for us.' (BTW, you can see a snippet of another quick one-on-one I got to do with Garth HERE.)

And Garth apparently still feels that way. We'd heard a few weeks ago that on his latest album,'Time Traveler,' there is a song he wrote about Minnesota. According to Garth's 'Inside Studio G - A Monday Night Conversation' Facebook live stream from Monday, October 26th, the song is called 'St. Paul/Minneapolis (A True Story.)'

In fact, if you watch the Inside Studio G video below, Garth even sings a bit of that new song. (It's at about 15:15 into the video.)

And Garth just told Billboard that the song is based on a true, random encounter he had with a woman here in the Bold North many years ago:

'I don’t have a clue who she is. It’s the weirdest thing. It was the easiest thing I’ve ever done. When she started talking, there was something in me that unlocked. In my dream of dreams, I’d love to run into her again and see if that easy feeling was really that or am I just imagining things,' he told Billboard.

How cool is that? Time Traveler is a 10-track album that's included in Garth's new 7-disc boxed set, The Limited Series, that's available exclusively at Bass Pro Shops.  Perhaps someday we'll hear Garth perform that song about Minnesota, here IN Minnesota, if he ever plans another cross-country tour, that is.
