BBB Issues Warning For Anyone Buying Lollapalooza Tickets

Lollapalooza is just a few days away, and thousands of Illinois music fans are still searching for tickets to the festival of the year.

Better watch out, though, because the Better Business Bureau (BBB) says scammers will be more active, hoping for buyers to make rushed purchases on tickets that can cost them hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

BBB Warns Festivalgoers of Last-Minute Lollapalooza Ticket Scams

I have never fallen for a ticket scam, but that's not to say that I haven't seen it in action and thankfully taken a second to reconsider my purchase. Unfortunately, that doesn't happen to everyone, as the rush to grab tickets for a much sought-after show or soon-to-be sold-out event forces people to act quickly.

Lollapalooza ticket scammers do a range of things to separate you from your money, like:

• Create fake ticket websites
• Counterfeit wristbands
• Phishing emails and texts
• Fake QR codes and electronic tickets

Another scam involves selling the same ticket to multiple people, who don't find out until they can't get in.

There are also scammers who make fake resale listings on places like Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist with the intention of never giving you anything but a headache. Some fake sites will just steal your credit card information.

The best way to stay safe is to buy through Lollapalooza's site or verified resellers with a refund policy and to use only a credit card. Never use cash, debit, or wire transfers for tickets.
