Louis Tomlinson Drops New Rock-Inspired Single ‘Kill My Mind': Listen
Louis Tomlinson just dropped his latest solo single, “Kill My Mind,”
The former One Direction singer released the new track, off his forthcoming debut album, on Thursday (September 5), taking his sound in a completely different direction than his boy band days. Instead of the usual pop-themed songs we're used to, he blessed fans with a rock-inspired anthem about having fun.
"It's a song that I've had for four or five months," he explained. "Literally since I've recorded it I've been really, really excited, really proud of what we've ended up with. I'm really happy with where we got to on this one."
The new song, which gives off major Oasis, The Killers and The Verve vibes, marks Tomlinson's fifth solo release since One Direction announced their indefinite hiatus in 2015. It’s also his first since "Two Of Us,” the emotional tribute to his late mother, Johannah Deaken, was released earlier this year.
"The devil in my brain/ Whispering my name/ I can hear it sayin', "Ah, ah, ah"/ I can ease the pain/ Just a little taste babe/ And ya won't let go of your hold on me," he sings on the track. "You kill my mind/ Raise my body back to life/ And I don't know what I'd do without you now."
