Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino is officially a free man!

The Jersey Shore star was released from prison on Thursday night (September 11) after serving eight months for one count of tax evasion. He and his wife, Lauren, broke their silence in a statement to E! News, in which they thanked their family and friends and revealed how happy they are to "finally close this chapter" in their lives.

"We are elated to finally close this chapter of our life," they said. "Thank you to our family, friends and fans for the continuous love and support during this time, it brought us so much peace and comfort. We look forward to continuing our life as husband and wife and working on baby situations! We truly believe that the comeback is ALWAYS greater than the setback and we can't wait to show the world ours."

Sorrentino also shared the statement with his fans via Instagram Stories:

Meanwhile, Lauren posted a photo from the movie Goodfellas, in which Karen (Lorraine Bracco) leans on her car as she waits for Henry (Ray Liotta) to be released from prison. "Mood," she captioned the shot.

According to Radar Online, MTV cameras were waiting outside the prison in Otisville, New York, to film his release, which means fans can likely expect to see the moment on the next season of Jersey Shore Family Vacation.

Following his emancipation, Sorrentino will be expected to complete 500 hours of community service, as well as reportedly pay $123,913 in restitution and a fine of $10,000.
