Odd and Goofy Illinois Liquor Laws. Chester, IL You Can Only Drink With the Mayor
In Chester, Illinois they "allow public consumption but only with, special permission from the mayor."
There are some items in this list that I "think" are a little outdated...The article was written in 2013, and it says that liquor sales in Freeport on Sundays in illegal. That's not true.
But there are some items and some bizarre laws to mention in this one. First off the "mayor" thing in Chester. So you can only drink in public, with the mayor's permission. He would be my new friend, or would have to be.
Now as the write up goes, that is written for special events and permits...not throwing down Bud Lights in the mayor's front yard.
OK let's look at some other fun and odd Illinois liquor laws:
Okawville, Illinois has a law that's a little "different." If you are going to a BYOB party, it MUST be inside a house. You can't BYOB to a park or a backyard BBQ...Inside a house ONLY!
Elmwood Park, Illinois prohibits “fashion shows” at their drinking establishments.
Warrenville and Wheeling, Illinois - No buying liquor at gas stations.
Wilmette and Third Lake, Illinois - You only get booze if you eat.
