Big news, Amazon purchased a video game broadcast website for a cool billion dollars. Apparently, people watching people play video games is big business.

Twitch.tv broadcasts people playing video games for other people to watch. But why would someone ever want to do that?

Jacob Malinowski, a 16-year-old who lives just outside of Milwaukee, tells AP, "I think it's interesting because you get to watch someone who's probably better at the game than you are. You can see what they do and copy what they do and get better."

Isn't the whole point of video games in general a challenge? Wouldn't you play the game to try it and get better after repeated attempts?

Watching some random guy halfway around the world play a game that I could play myself doesn't make much sense.

In the same AP article, it states, that "nearly half of visitors spend 20 or more hours a week watching Twitch video."

20 hours? That is an insane amount of time spent doing anything...especially watching someone play video games.

I remember my parents used to give me a hard time about playing video games too much. Parents now yell at their kids about watching other people playing video games too much.
