RIP Bonne Bell Lip Smackers

Kiss your childhood goodbye, Lip Smackers is going out of business.

I gasped when I saw that Bonne Bell, the creator of Lip Smackers, was shutting down.  Dr. Pepper Lip Smacker was part of my very first beauty routine, if you could even call it that; and every Christmas, until I was at least 16, I couldn't wait to get a tube filled with an assortment of flavors in my stocking.

Thank goodness for memories because that's all we'll have left of this childhood favorite.  Nearly 90 years after Bonne Bell was founded, they announced that they are shutting down operations and laying off all 91 employees.

However, some sources are saying that the Lip Smacker line will continue under its new ownership, though it's not clear if the company plans to make any changes to the brand.

Better stock up on your favorite flavors just in case.
