Rockford Fails To Make ‘Top 10 Worst Places To Live In Illinois’ List

If you are someone who complains about Rockford, just remember, it didn't make the 10 worst places to live in Illinois list. Take that, haters!

A survey from RoadSnacks shows the worst town in Illinois is Benton.

But wait, where's Benton? Benton is about an hour north of the Kentucky border. According to the City of Benton website, "Benton is the county seat of Franklin County. Benton has a strong tradition for hard working people, strong family heritages, and also a great community to work and raise a family."

Why is Benton the worst town in Illinois? According to CBS, "Unemployment stands at 9.4% and residents earn about $29,000 a year. A total of 17 percent of families live below the poverty line."

RoadSnacks says "After analyzing 342 of the Prairie State’s most populous cities, we came up with this list as the 10 places that could use a hug right about now."

3. East St. Louis
4. Hoopeston
5. Kankakee
6. Litchfield
7. West Frankfort
8. Alton
9. Salem
10. Decatur

I've been to some of those places before, and yikes!  I'm glad to see though, that Rockford isn't part of a "bad" list this time around. Rockford is actually a pretty cool town with good music, delicious food, a cool art scene and plenty of things for families to do.
