Some will point to major employers that once dominated the area. Others will mention local landmarks, historic businesses, community traditions, or moments that help put the city on the map.

Things that were one a huge source of pride for Rockford don't always carry the same significance with younger generations. Many younger residents grew up in a different era, with different interests, experiences, and connections to the city of Rockford. Whether you agree or disagree that we should appreciate that list more, it's really cool to see how a city's identity can shift over time.

I would say most kids these days don't appreciate being connected with the outside world. Ever since Covid shutdown, times have truly changed the way we interact with one another. Kids don't go outside as much and the world is a little scarier than it used to be.
