Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta Do Not ‘Agree’ Over Taylor Swift Drama
Scooter Braun is "frustrated" with Scott Borchetta over the Taylor Swift situation, according to sources.
In case you missed it, the "Lover" hitmaker shared an open letter last week claiming her former label, Big Machine, is preventing her from performing her hit songs at the 2019 American Music Awards, where she's set to receive the Artist of the Decade Award, and refused to permit her music to be used in an upcoming Netflix documentary.
Big Machine has since refuted her claims and even accused her of owing the label millions of dollars. This has not mended the situation. In fact, aside from Justin Bieber, many have sided with the pop star and now sources say Braun doesn't "agree" with Borchetta and Big Machine in their fight against Swift either.
"Scooter is frustrated because his name is being dragged in the mud," a source told E! News. "He doesn't run Big Machine or have operational control of the company. He hasn't taken part in these negotiations."
"This fight with Taylor is not something Scooter agrees with," the insider added.
Meanwhile, sources of at Page Six also say Braun has repeatedly been trying to reach Swift since in June (after his company acquired Big Machine in a multi-million dollar deal), but she hasn't returned his calls. According to Swift insiders, it's a little too late for that because "he should have reached out before the deal closed."
A music source also gave the website a little insight over the situation, explaining, "Scooter never had a relationship with Taylor, he should have offered her a partnership when he bought the company. Even if he offers Taylor a 50-50 deal now and allows her to buy in, her masters have dramatically increased in value since the sale. Taylor is very unlikely to give Scooter hundreds of millions given the bad blood.”
