SPOTTED: Extremely Rare Chicago Cubs Baseball Card at Illinois Restaurant
Baseball card collectors will flip over this misprinted Ryne Sandberg card at Poison Ivy Pub in Roscoe, Illinois.
Come for the food, stay for the rare baseball card. That should be the slogan of Roscoe, Illinois' Poison Ivy Pub.
Poison Ivy is one of those spots in the Rockford area I've heard about, but never visited until this past weekend. Why? I'm not really sure, but I am sure I wish I'd stopped by sooner.
My friends and I stopped there on our way home from the DC Estate Winery 5K last Sunday, since you work up a pretty big appetite running a 5K and drinking wine slushies.
Not only did they also have some fun cocktails, I ordered the Motherload Mimosa, but the menu was packed too.
Poison Ivy Pub's Menu
Unlike Steve Shannon, I always order Brussel Sprouts when I see them on the menu, so that was my first 'must' when I sat down, and then I was debating between the Romaine Boat salad and the Ceasar with grilled Romaine.
I went with the Ceasar and it was a great choice.
Now, the most important part of this story isn't what I ordered, but what I noticed when I was waiting for my food.
An entire collection of sports memorabilia including a huge section devoted to my oldest brother's all-time favorite Chicago Cubs player, Ryne Sandberg.
Not only were there a handful of Ryno cards, but one was an error! I've never seen a misprinted baseball card before! I immediately snapped a picture and sent it to my dad, brothers and nephews.
You know I have to take them there next time they come to visit.
Poison Ivy Pub is located at 5765 Elevator Road in Roscoe, Illinois.
