State Street Station is Getting Demolished
State Street Station has been closed for years, but this year it might go away completely.
I've been working in Rockford for just under six years, and I've been living here for three. Every time I drive past State Street Station, I think to myself... wait what is that place again?
Well, me, it WAS a bikini bar... until 2016. And now it might end up being an Italian restaurant.
According to the RR Star, there is an unpaid $10,850 fine against State Street Station, and City Council will waive that if new owners demolish the building.
The article notes that the new buyer does plan to get rid of the building and bring Rockford a Via Sofia's Italian Kitchen.
