Three BBQ Joints Near Rockford Battling for Best Pulled Pork in Illinois
It's that time of year when everything under the sun is put in a bracket.
Makes sense with college basketball happening, so why not find out who makes the best pulled pork in Illinois?
Because that's what the folks at ILPork.com are doing right now.
That's the Illinois Pork Producers website and they're trying to figure out which BBQ joint in Illinois does pulled pork better than anyone else.
While there aren't any Rockford restaurants that made the cut to the "Sweet 16" there are three not far from the Forest City we can check out for ourselves.
- Lil' Smoked Bar & Grill at 609 Depot Avenue, Dixon.
- Smoked on 3rd BBQ Bistro & Catering at 14 East 3rd Street, Sterling.
- Triple P BBQ at 3312 West Rock Falls Road, Rock Falls.
Both Lil Smoked and Smoked on 3rd appear to be owned by the same people or group, but the food looks good at both places.
The same can be said of Triple P BBQ in Rock Falls. That pulled pork sandwich they featured on their Facebook is mouthwatering.
There are 13 other restaurants in the field too including places in Shannon, Bloomington, Knoxville, Waterloo, Springfield, Jacksonville, Decatur, Arthur, Casey, Marshall, and Olney.
To me, those are a little too far away but the three I mentioned above might be worth the trek if you want to make sure you're voting correctly.
