Whether you agree with the practice or not, it's become custom for big box stores and major retailers to open their doors to eager holiday shoppers on Thanksgiving. For those who work in retail, it's not ideal, but it's just part of the job.

For others, who love to get a head start on Christmas shopping and a leg up on the savings, it's a great opportunity to leave the nap taking, football watching, pumpkin pie loving relatives behind and get a breath of fresh air...and maybe an elbow to the rib cage over the last $10 Crockpot.

While CherryVale Mall will be closed on Thanksgiving, WREX reports that Walmart, Target and Best Buy will be open with Walmart and Target starting their sales at 6 p.m. and Best Buy's in-store sales will begin at 5 p.m.

Additionally, all three stores will start their online Black Friday sales in the early morning hours on Thanksgiving.
