Wayfair Set To Open First-Ever Megastore In Illinois This Month
Just a guess, but Wayfair put plenty of stores out of business with their ultra-successful business model.
By specializing in home goods, they catered to specific customer needs and innovated in a way that helped them stay one step ahead of the competition.
In recent years, Wayfair has experienced some challenges, so the news that they are opening a "large-format" store in Illinois might be a bit of a gamble.
Especially when you realize this new megasized Wayfair is going in what used to be a Carson Pirie Scott.
THE NEW WAYFAIR STORE WILL REMIND YOU OF ANOTHER MASSIVE PLACE
At first glance, it appears that Wayfair is opening its own IKEA, and it will be a monster.
The 150,000-square-foot store is located in Wilmette and Edens Plaza. The press release says it is a "one-stop shop for all things home—including furniture, home decor, housewares, and home improvement products for any style space or budget."
This massive Wayfair store will also have an onsite restaurant called The Porch.

WHERE IS THE NEW WAYFAIR STORE IN ILLINOIS?
The opening of Wayfair in Wilmette, 3232 Lake Avenue, is set for May 23 at 10 a.m. with deals and plenty of family-friendly things to do the entire opening weekend.
Time will tell if this Wayfair location is a good idea. Unfortunately, plenty of businesses have closed over the years. See below if you can guess the abandoned Rockford businesses.
