Wisconsin City Named Among America’s 10 Best Lake Towns
Looking for a great lake vacation or just need a change of scenery?
Mediafeed put together a list of the Best Lake Towns in America and apparently there's a handful of great places to live and visit in both Wisconsin and Illinois.
Out of 46 listed cities and towns, four can be found in Illinois:
- Zion (45)
- Gages Lake (43)
- Waukegan (40)
- Highland Park (15)
In Wisconsin, a whopping eight different towns were named among the best lake towns in America including:
- Racine (36)
- Oak Creek (30)
- Shorewood (29)
- Kenosha (28)
- Stoughton (23)
- Mequon (19)
- Brookfield (11)
However, of all those listed above, only one managed to crack the top 10 according to Mediafeed.
In at #10 is Pewaukee, Wisconsin. Known as a "fisherman's paradise, providing the best muskie fishing in southeastern Wisconsin." according to visitwaukeshacounty.com.
Medafeed ranks Pewaukee 16th in affordability, 4th in economy rank, 9th in education and health, 16th in quality of life, 22nd in safety, and 32nd in weather.
Obviously, weather plays a huge factor in figuring out whether or not a lake town is good or bad. Despite the low number for Pewaukee, it's still considered one of the best in America.
According to TripAdvisor the top thing to do in Pewaukee is to check out the Lakefront Park. It's one of the best lake towns in America, so it would make sense to visit the actual lake on which Pewaukee sits.
For eats, TripAdvisor says to try Doc's Dry Dock. Again, a place on the water.
Do you sense a theme here? Pewaukee knows what they got (plenty of water) and they lean into it.
Have you been to Pewaukee? Is it really one of the best lake towns in America?
