You Can Help Build Houses All Summer in Illinois
This summer could be the best summer ever, especially if you spend some time outside doing something amazing for the community.
We look forward to summer all year and when it comes it's GO TIME. But what does GO TIME mean to you this time around?
Does it mean heading into work early each morning so you can leave before 4pm and enjoy some sunshine?
Does it mean getting the family together for as much outdoor together time as possible?
Maybe it means hitting that summer reading list extra hard, or just hanging by the pool?
But, maybe it also means finding some time to do a few of those things... togetherness, outside time, enjoying the sunshine... but also helping the community.
So last Friday, I helped build a house with the Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity. This was the first time I ever signed up to do something like this but I've always been interested in finding a way to volunteer more and building a house sounded really cool.
Friday was their annual Women Build, so it really was a perfect event for me to put on my calendar, BUT it's not the only time they need help this year.
In fact, volunteers are needed all summer on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
But you don't have to commit to anything, you can show up when you can and grab a hammer, you'll want to sign up here for more information.
