You Can Help ‘Protect Betty White from 2016′

I'm not sure you realize this, because I know I didn't, but 131 celebrities have died this year; and the deaths have been so sudden and clumped so close together that I don't think any of us have had the proper amount of time to mourn some of those that we loved the most; there are people who still aren't over the passing of Prince and that was 8 months ago. I know right? It feels like it was just yesterday.

So imagine, if in the next two days, another one of your favorite celebrities is unexpectedly taken from us. If there was anything you could do prevent it, would you?

You're probably thinking to yourself that there really isn't anyway you can save someone from death; if it's their time, it's their time; but there's one person out there who will stop at nothing to save one of America's favorite actresses from coming face to face with the grim reaper before the year is over, Demetrios Hrysikos.

According to CNN, Hrysikos started a GoFundMe page to "Help Protect Betty White from 2016." The campaign was launched shortly after the passing of Carrie Fisher and in it, Hrysikos offers to fly to wherever Betty White is and protect her until the new year; in a strange twist, he offers to do something even more thoughtful should Betty not accept his offer - the money, $3,153 raised so far, will be donated to the Spartanburg little theater to "help craft new stars of stage and screen to carry the mantle of the legends that have left is this year."

No word on if Betty has accepted his offer as of yet, but should she make an official statement on the matter, I'm sure she'd simply say, "thank you for being a friend."

As for the rest of us, I think we'd all agree with Hrysikos, we must stop at nothing to protect Betty White from 2016.
