The CDC has revealed the real reason your eyes turn red in the swimming pool.

It's probably what you think it is; killing any and all dreams you might have had about floating on your own personal inflatable raft with a fruity drink in hand; in your very own backyard oasis.

I don't want you to let this ruin your summer but the Centers for Disease Control have revealed the reason your eyes turn red in the swimming pool and it's gross - we thought for years that it was chlorine; it's actually pee. Well, and sweat.

Chlorine bonds with the bacteria from your pee and sweat, which creates irritants that can sting your eyes and oh, that cough that you sometimes get when you leave the indoor pool is from trapped chemicals that are irritating your lungs.

Now if you just said, "but wait, isn't there that blue dye in pools that shows up if someone pees in the pool?" Nope. That's just a myth...and for some of you that might mean that you're going to pee in the pool because now you know that you won't be swimming in that blue spot of shame. Just don't.

There are ways you can avoid the nastiness- don't ever go swimming when you're sick,  or have open wounds or sores; shower before you go into the pool and whatever you do- don't pee in the water. Let's all do our part.
