Many Wet Seal employees were surprised to find out on Monday that their employer was suddenly closing up shop.

Wet Seal has yet to announce how many stores will be closing, but judging from the amount of anger their social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter) has received its a safe bet to say, quite a bit.

There was also #ForgetWetSeal trending on Twitter last night.

Many employees of the closing stores from Washington to Ohio, posted angry protest signs claiming that the popular fashion store for teens lied to them.

The underlying theme in all of the protest posters appear to be lack of knowledge of the actual store closing.

After speaking with Lee Avila who works at Wet Seal inside the CherryVale Mall, I was given the same impression.

Lee told me that she was notified Friday the store was closing and today would be her last day.

While I'd hate to say this is a first, sudden closings happen all the time, but this doesn't excuse Wet Seal's actions.

I too lived the "sudden store mall closing" when I was employed by a store in a mall while in high school.

My situation was a bit different back then, fast forward to 2015, Wet Seal could've handled the store closing situation differently.

With the prevalence of social media, Wet Seal should/could/will feel the aftershocks of their poor handling of the closures long after they are complete.
