10 Christmas Gift Ideas if You’re In Love But You’re Broke

There is so much pressure in relationships to get each other the perfect gift. And the older we get, the harder it seems to find just the right one.

Maybe it's because we basically buy ourselves most of the things we want. Or maybe it's because we are just less materialistic than we were in our younger years. Either way, we still want to light up our significant others face on Christmas morning. Here are a few inexpensive or free gift ideas from the heart if you are struggling to find just the right one. Some of them might be a little cliche, but I guarantee they will be appreciated.

Breakfast in bed. This may take a little extra planning if you have kids since they will probably be up at the butt crack of dawn. But even if they are, send your lover back to bed after the kids open presents. Or get them all comfy on the couch with a cozy blanket and a fire going. Put their favorite Christmas movie on and start cooking. Let them have the morning off while you spoil them.

Write them a heartfelt love letter telling them all the reasons why you adore them. Wrap it up in some pretty ribbon, tie a candy cane to it, and put in in their stocking or under the tree.

Make a photo collage of pictures of the two of you or your family.

If they are working on Christmas Day, do something to make their day special at work. Take them and pick them up so they don't have to drive. Leave a note for them on the seat of their car, or if you can flowers. Make a special treat for them to take in to share with their coworkers. Be creative.

Decorate their bedroom in Christmas lights, put on their favorite music, and give them a nice massage.

If you have kids, help them to make handmade Christmas cards.

Plan a special date that they have no idea is coming. Make it a total surprise. Arrange everything and sweep them off their feet for the night.

Draw them a hot bath with some relaxing essential oils and relaxing music. Have a glass of wine ready, dim the lighting, and let them chill. When they are done get them a warm towel straight out of the dryer, and tuck them into bed. If you want bonus points, give them a foot massage.

Put new cozy sheets on the bed, light some candles, get under the covers and snuggle and just spend an hour talking and really listening to them. Find out what has been going on in their life that maybe you don't know because the two of you have been so busy adulting. Make this your New Year's resolution to them. That you are going to devote one hour every week to doing just this. It could be the best gift you will ever give them.
