Illinois Distillery Made The Worst Thing You Could Drink This Christmas

It was just over 9 years ago when I had my first (and last) shot of the absolute worst booze I've ever tasted and now the Illinois-made liquor has a new Christmas flavor.

Using the word "worst" is not something I say much. It's hard to call something the "worst ever" when you still have time to experience something that could possibly be even worse.

I stand by my statement about this liquor that is made in Chicago. I'm 100% confident that I will never taste something worse than,

Jeppson's Malört

Jeppson's Malört is made by CH Distillery, located in Chicago's historic Pilsen neighborhood.

Malört is named after Carl Jeppson, a Swedish immigrant who first distilled the stuff in Chicago.

Malört (literally moth herb) is the Swedish word for wormwood, which is the key ingredient.

My First (and Last) Shot of Malört

Saturday, October 11, 2014, I'll never forget it. I was at a bar in the small town of Rockton, Illinois for a 'customer appreciation' party at Rockton Inn Pub & Grub. Thank God I didn't have to pay to discover what a cat's litterbox tastes like in liquid form.

...It tastes like dandelions soaked in rubbing alcohol

...I drank that one time and it tasted like paint

...I had 3 shots one night and didn't know if I could win that hangover the next day...so gross!

...Have you ever drunk bike tire air? If you drank Malort...you have.

The guy who bought me the shot was entertaining himself that night by buying shots for people knowing full well that many may regret taking a sip.

Are there people whose tastebuds allow them to drink Malört more than once? My gag reflex is activated just thinking about this stuff.
