"Daylight Saving Time" ends this weekend (Sunday, November 7, 2021, at 2:00 A.M.) On Saturday night, set your clocks back one hour. WashPost

You gain that hour of sleep, it gets darker earlier, and it was created to help the Illinois farmers, right?

With anything that's been around a while, there's myths and stories, folklore if you will. So what is the deal "Daylight Saving Time?" Why and how and who does it really benefit?

The good news is that the majority of our electronics change themselves now, so if you forget to fall behind don't worry your iPhone will take care of you.

So let's take a look at five of these Daylight Saving Time Myths...

1. It was done to help the farmers - This is a good one, that I think we all learned as kids growing up in Illinois. Not true actually. Farmers were actually VERY against this from the beginning, especially dairy farmers. Cows do NOT adjust to schedule shifts.

2. The Extra Daylight Makes us Happier and Healthier - This is also bogus. Experts have warned about spikes in workplace accidents, suicide and extreme headaches because of the time change.

3. It helps us "conserve" energy? - We crank up the A/C more and fuel up our cars way more...so no to this as well.

4. It benefits "business" - The TV industry hates it...that is a billion dollar business. Ratings slump. The airline industry gets a kick in the pants too.

5. Standard time, is "standard." - Where is it fact that something that happens for only 1/3 of the time the “standard.” That just sounds wrong, right?
