You're never too old to try something new, or in the case of Bill Lambert, try something new and then break a Guinness World Record.

Lambert, a Rockford resident is attempting to break the world record for Oldest Male Scuba Diver.

By the way, Lambert is 99-years-old. He applied to break the record last year.

Dan Johnson, the owner of Loves Park Scuba, trained Lambert and said he learned how to scuba dive for the first time last January.

Lambert will attempt to break the record held by Wallace Raymond Woolley from the United Kingdom. Woolley broked the record when he was 95 years and four days old. Lambert attempts to set a new Guinness World Record today in South Beloit at Pearl Lake, 1220 Dearborn Avenue at 5 p.m.

Think about it, a man nearly 100-years-old decided to learn how to scuba dive only a few years ago and is now going to break a Guinness World Record.

It's stories like these that should remind us that the only person stopping us from getting the most of life is ourselves. Go for it. Be like Bill Lambert.
