Is This Abandoned KFC In Dekalb Getting New Owners?
It's always a happy day when a new local business comes to town!
The city of Dekalb has announced the, nearly 14-year-old, abandoned KFC in downtown Dekalb may be getting new owners! Not only would they be selling delicious sandwiches, they're locally owned.
This is so exciting, Anna's Sandwich Shoppe is so close to opening their doors at the former KFC location. With indoor and outdoor seating coming soon, all they need now is a special use permit to have a drive-through for the restaurant!

Their menu will offer customers handcrafted sandwiches, subs, salads, teas, specialty coffees, and much more. They haven't provided details on expected opening date yet, but fingers crossed it's pretty soon!
After all these years of the abandoned KFC sitting empty, the city is pretty happy to see something new go in there. Though many are excited, some residents voiced concerns for once the business is open. Some being the height of the signage, how loud the drive-thru and announcement speakers will be, plus their hours when they'll be operating.
What do you think? Are you happy the former KFC is getting a facelift? I think after this many years, it's a great improvement to the downtown area of Dekalb. They'll be located at 922 S. Fourth Street, Dekalb.
Someone actually made a YouTube video showing off the 14-year-old abandoned building in downtown Dekalb recently. They explained that Anna's Sandwich Shoppe will be opening soon and show around the property before it becomes occupied!
