Tiny Wisconsin Town Cracks Top Three Best Small Cities in America
As an Illinois resident, I was a bit disappointed with the news.
I was not upset to see a Wisconsin town ranked third overall, but Illinois towns were absent from this list.
Of course, one Illinois town was on Far & Wide's monster list of 100 Best Small Towns in America to Live In Or Visit.
BEST SMALL TOWN IN ILLINOIS
If you immediately guessed Galena, you'd be right. Come on, though. I love Galena as much as the next person, but is it the only small town worth visiting in the entire state? I'll answer that for you, no.
For this exercise, though, Galena was the sole Illinois representative of 100 towns.
BEST SMALL TOWNS IN WISCONSIN
As for Wisconsin, Mineral City and Hayward cracked the top 100, but only two other towns fared better than Stockholm. Say what? What and where is Stockholm, Wisconsin?
Located roughly four and a half hours northwest of Rockford, Stockholm is an excellent place to visit. I only say vidist because I'm sure only a handful live there.
According to Far & Wide, Stockholm's population is 65. So, if there's no one there, what makes it so great? The story says, "Stockholm was named for a reason - the town has a deep Swedish heritage that it still takes pride in. From its food to architecture, this beautiful tiny town displays its roots with gusto."
THE TOP THING TO DO IN STOCKHOLM, WISCONSIN
If you're a food fanatic like me, the pies are the best reason to visit Stockholm.

Yelp reviewers say the Stockholm Pie and General Store pies are "out of this world good" and "super fresh."
If I didn't know better, I'd say the pie in Stockholm is the main reason this tiny town is so high on Far & Wide's list.
