I Think I Found My New Favorite Hangout Spot in Downtown Rockford

I think I found my new favorite hangout spot in Rockford.

This place has actually been around for years, but they just recently moved to a brand new location in downtown Rockford by Minnihan's and the BMO.

I live in downtown Rockford, and I love hearing about new places opening within walking distance from me!  Saves me lots of gas, and it motivates me to check out what we have around here.

I've been to plenty of bars around Rockford that are really inviting, like CJ's Pub, The Office, Mary's Place, and Savoy's.  Those are the places I go to the most, but I know there are plenty of other chill bars across town!

Well, a new bar popped up downtown that I was really excited to check out once they re-opened.  Ever heard of Big Timber?

Originally, Big Timber was just an axe throwing place by Don Carter Lanes, but they decided to relocate downtown and build out their business!  I thought it was still going to be just axe throwing, but that definitely wasn't the case.

Right when you walk in, the ambiance hits you like a freakin' train. I can't stand bright lights whenever I go places, so the low lighting was probably one of my favorite things about this place.

It has a moody vibe, with pool, board games, axe throwing, and a huge bar!

Big Timber feels like the kind of place you'd hangout with friends on a weekend when you don't feel like going out to bars that are packed shoulder-to-shoulder, too.  It's huge and spacious!

I love when bars give you options for entertainment other than drinking.  That's why I go to CJ's so much!  They also have pool, beer pong, darts, and shuffleboard so you're not just sitting at the bar.

Big Timber is walking distance to the BMO, literally next door, and near Minnihan's so you can bar hop if you plan on it!  The Embassy Suites is across the street, too.

There's a neighborhood cat that sits in a window next door named Lenny.  He greets you every time you walk by, which makes going to Big Timber even better.

If you've been looking for a new place to hangout, without all the chaos, this might be your new favorite place just like me.  It's like a hidden gem!  I will say, if you're trying to throw axes with me, you will not win.  I was a lumberjack in a past life, just sayin'.
