Spring is officially in the air and that means it's the perfect time to take a trip to see the butterflies at the Nicholas Conservatory in Rockford, IL.

Think back to when you were a kid.

You maybe had a few problems... you were frustrated as you learned to tie your shoes and it wasn't as easy as you expected... your older brother wouldn't let you choose what to watch on TV... your parents forced you to eat carrots... but aside from that things were pretty good.

Plus, every once in a while your school took you on a field trip.

Ah, field trips. They were truly the best part of school.

One of the Best Field Trips in Rockford

A very popular place to visit on a field trip in the Rockford area is the Nicholas Conservatory and Gardens.

Unfortunately for me, I grew up pretty far away from here, so I didn't get to come see the butterflies when I was a kid. But, I live here now and I'm just a few minutes away from this incredible exhibit.

I'll admit the first time I stepped into the butterfly cage I did freak out a little when a butterfly flew by my ears, but when they landed on the sugary stick that the Conservatory provides, it was pretty magical to see the butterflies up close and personal.
