According to RRStar.com, last year on April 9th, there was a story about a man who pulled a mother and son from a burning SUV. The man, Matt Howes was taking his three children to school in April of 2018. He saw an SUV lose control, hit a guardrail and drive down an embankment. When the vehicle finally came to a stop, it landed on the roof in a field and then caught on fire.

Matt ran to the upside down car and pried one of the doors open to rescue Amy Kliven. Next he got into the vehicle to retrieve Kliven's son. Amy Cliven told authorities that the whole reason she and her son walked away from the accident was because of him. She told Howes, " I will forever be grateful for the sacrifice you went through to save my son".

Yesterday Howes received the Robert P. Connelly Medal of Heroism from the Kiwanis club. This award goes to individuals who sacrificed their lives to help others. We at Q98.5 salute you Matt Howes. Your selflessness in a great time of need is greatly appreciated by us and your community.
