Why There’s a Giant Yellow Slide at the Brewers Stadium in Milwaukee

First off, I went to American Family Field in Milwaukee for the very first time to see the Cubs vs. Brewers, and had a ton of fun with friends!

While the game was fun, there was one thing that immediately caught my attention: the giant yellow slide in left field.

Nobody was sliding down it, so I figured it was just for show!

At first, I thought maybe it was one of those baseball traditions that die-hard Brewers fans only knew about.

Well, turns out people absolutely do use it.

The story behind the famous yellow slide at American Family Field

It's called Bernie's Slide, and it's part of the Brewers' long-running Bernie Brewer tradition.  The slide is located above the left-field bleachers in an area called "Bernie's Chalet".

When the Brewers hit a home run, Bernie Brewer celebrates by sliding down it and landing on a platform shaped like home plate.

When the Brewers moved into what is now American Family Field (formerly Miller Park), the tradition came along with them!  But here's the part I didn't know when I was sitting there: fans can ride the slide themselves.
