If you thought we’d never get a really clear answer on the situation with the Bears, their new home, and where it’s going, this should help.

It looks like Bears brass is headed to Orlando to meet with the NFL and have a nice, long discussion about their future stadium plans.

The reason is that Illinois lawmakers are facing a May 31 deadline on a proposed “megaprojects” bill that would freeze property taxes on large developments, such as a massive new stadium.

Arlington Heights vs. Hammond: The Final Two Options for the New Bears Stadium

If this passes, there’s a very good chance that the Bears stay in Illinois and set up shop in Arlington Heights. If it falls through, apparently Hammond, just south of Chicago and into Indiana, is the out-of-town option.

One thing that appears not to be happening is the Chicago Bears actually staying in Chicago, like the city limits. Governor Pritzker took a shot at Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson just recently, claiming he has “no plan” to keep the Monsters of the Midway in the Windy City.

Moving On From Soldier Field: Why a Suburban Shift Might Be Optimal

I’m fine with that in all honesty. Traveling to Soldier Field has always been a nightmare, and I’m sure whatever they come up with to remain in the city won’t be optimal.

For me, “optimal’ is Arlington Heights. If that gets done, though is a whole other story. We’ll just have to wait and see. Hopefully, something gets figured out by the end of the week.

If it were up to you, where would you want the Bears to play their home games? Arlington Heights, Chicago, Hammond, or somewhere else?

If the legislature misses that May 31 deadline and Hammond actually happens, do you think fans will revolt, or will the promise of better parking and modern tailgating win them over?
