An Illinois animal rescue is asking the community for support after they took in a cat that was placed in an oven by a child.

This entire story is just jaw-dropping.  On Facebook, Cause For Paws in Byron, Illinois shared they received a sweet, young tabby in their care after a very sad situation.

According to the post, a child had placed a cat in their oven and turned it on while the parents were sleeping.  There was no indication how long the cat was in the oven for, but long enough for the poor baby's paws to get burnt!

Her name is Lilo!

According to the post, Lilo was brought to the Dekalb Police Department then dropped off at Cause For Paws to receive the care she needed.

"For her safety she was relinquished to the DeKalb police department then came to us. She is currently receiving the best care at her foster home with multiple medications and frequent topical care. She will also need weekly veterinary visits to ensure proper healing." [Cause For Paws]

Such an unfortunate situation for all parties involved.  Glad she's recovering, though!

There were so many negative comments about the child that the rescue had to add in that we don't know the entire situation, but at this time the cat has been removed from the home to receive proper medical attention.
