We were all stunned when beloved toy retailer, Toys R Us announced last year they were going out of business.

The sentiment behind the store was so strong that many believed someone at the last minute would swoop in and save the stores from closing forever.

However, that didn't happen and Toys R Us locations were boarded up, including the Rockford store at 6449 East State Street.

It looks now the former toy giant might be coming back from the dead.

MSNBC says former Toys R US executives are operating under the name Tru Kids, Inc. and own the "Toys R Us, Babies R Us, and Geoffrey brand names."

So what's going to happen? Well, it's all kind of up in the air but you can almost count on some form of Toys R Us returning. Tru Kids, Inc. is "exploring many options, including stand-alone stores, pop-up shops, and partnerships."

If Toys R Us is to come back and make an impact they need to focus on price. If they can't compete with Target, Walmart and even Amazon, they may as well have just stayed closed.

As sad as I was to see a place that was a huge part of my childhood close up, as an adult, I thought it was crazy to pay more for identical items I could get somewhere else for much less.
