Does This Tasty Pork Chop Look Like a Cutout of Illinois?
Maybe it's just me but I'm pretty sure this boneless pork chop looks like Illinois.
Like, if all 50 states were aligned like pork chops, I'm pretty sure you'd be able to fit this one in the Land of Lincoln spot with no problem.
So here's the deal, I'm on the grill one fine afternoon and after I'm finished I notice this:
What do you think? I mean there's an uncanny resemblance to the outline of the state of Illinois.
Some of the other pork chops looked kind of like cutouts of the Dakotas and another that might have been Indiana but none of those quite matched up to that one pork chop that looked like Illinois.
I searched online to see if others in the pork chop grilling world have found other cutouts of Illinois in their very own meats, but sadly I quickly realized I'm going at this one alone.
Then I found this:
Illinois-shaped corn flake sells for $1350
This happened in 2008 and it doesn't look nearly as similar as my boneless Illinois pork chop.
The winner of the auction, which lasted more than a week, is the owner of a trivia Web site who wants to add the corn flake to a traveling museum...Copycat items have popped up on eBay, including corn flakes shaped like Hawaii and Virginia. There's also been a potato chip shaped like Florida.
I didn't think for one second that I might be able to sell my pork chop to a collector of "foods that somewhat look like states" but that's what happens when you're hungry. Food first, money second, and I have to say the state of Illinois has never been quite so delicious.
