When was the last time you went to the mall to shop?  I've pretty much turned to Amazon and a lot of online stores so I can get it all delivered directly to my doorstep.

I feel like shopping malls were a HUGE thing like 10 years ago.  So many people would go to the mall for Black Friday deals, new game releases, and to shop at their favorite stores.  Food courts used to be insanely packed with shoppers getting their meals in before beginning their shopping sprees again.

Now?  Malls seem to be dying out and I really want to know why.  There's one mall in Bloomington, Illinois that is just a sad, sad sight to see.  When I say I'm going to shop at the mall, this place is 100% NOT what I'm talking about.

For every store that you see open at this shopping center in Illinois, there's literally 3 stores closed surrounding it.  It's literally hanging on for dear life.  You don't even see many mall walkers anymore getting their daily exercise in. Take a look at the photos at the Eastland Mall in Bloomington, Illinois and see for yourself!

EASTLAND MALL - BLOOMINGTON, IL

"It opened in 1967 and has expanded several times in its history. It featured more than 90 stores and a food court.  There are currently 3 vacant major retailers you'll see below that were once Macy's, Bergner's, and Sears."

Like I said above, 3 major retailers that were once inside this mall thriving were Bergner's, Macy's, and Sears.  After closing down for good, you can still see Bergner's logo on the outside of the building slowly fading away.

This is just a small area of Eastland Mall in Bloomington.  You see Foot Locker on the right and a ton of vacant businesses to the left.  How sad!

There are also barely any people in this mall throughout the entire video I've attached below, too.  I can't imagine they're going to stay open much longer?

Even the kiosks in the middle of the mall aren't in use.  I remember as a kid stopping at every kiosk and checking out all the random knick knacks...

I just don't understand why cities allow malls to die out as quickly as they are?  They could totally be utilized to their full capacity if the city really put effort into making this eyesore look beautiful!
