If you are impatiently waiting for your iPhone or iPad to charge up and it seems to take forever you might want to think twice about replacing the charging cable or device itself.According to CNET's Dan Graziano, a simple toothpick might do the trick. Turn the device off and use the toothpick to clean out the device's lightning port.

After time, dust and other things can get inside the lighting port slowing down the connection. Removal of the dust and debris will help the connection, thus improving the charge time.

You might also want to think about using a can of compressed air if the toothpick doesn't do the trick.

If all else fails, you may need to get the device looked at or replace the charging cable.
