Everything You Need to Know About Buc-ee’s First Wisconsin Location
What if I told you that the most epic road trip stop in the South is heading to Wisconsin? A legendary travel center known for its massive stores, endless snacks, and spotless bathrooms is about to change the Midwest forever.
Wisconsin Gets Its First Buc-ee’s: Prepare to Lose an Hour in the Best Way Possible

Picture this: My family, fresh from a Florida road trip, lets me loose inside a Buc-ee's in Alabama. I promise them a quick dash to "see if it lives up to the hype." Spoiler alert: I was inside for almost an hour. My brain glitched from the sheer amount of amazing things to buy.
Beef jerky wall? Check.
Fudge so good it makes you emotional? Double check.
Enough branded merchandise to fill a moving van? Absolutely.
It wasn’t just a convenience store—it was an experience!
Now, imagine this wonderland setting up shop just a short drive from Rockford.
Buc-ee’s is coming to Oak Creek, Wisconsin
Oak Creek city leaders announced plans for a 73,370-square-foot travel center with 120 gas pumps, ethanol-free fuel, diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), and EV charging stations, according to Fox6Now.com.
This will be the first-ever Buc-ee’s in Wisconsin, making it a must-visit for those of us in Illinois who need our Beaver Nuggets fix. Just an hour and forty-ve minute drive just south of Milwaukee
The proposed site is at the southwest corner of I-94 and Elm Road, and the store’s opening is tentatively planned for early 2027, according to Fox6Now. Sure, that feels far away, but you’ll want to mark your calendar now because this isn’t your average gas station—it’s a destination.
What’s Next for Buc-ee’s in Oak Creek?
Before we all start planning road trips, there’s a bit of local red tape to cut through. A Plan Commission meeting on January 28 will discuss the project, followed by two public hearings. The first is on February 17, and the second, tentatively scheduled for March 18, will determine if Oak Creek’s Common Council approves a Future Land Use Map amendment and a rezoning.
Why Buc-ee’s Is Worth the Hype
If you’ve never been to a Buc-ee’s, let me sum it up: it’s an outrageously big, super-clean haven for road trippers. From brisket sandwiches to kitschy home decor, there truly is something for everyone.
And the bathrooms? Legendary.
So, who’s ready to make the less-than-two-hour drive from Rockford when it opens? Just don’t blame me if you spend an hour inside. Or two. Keep an eye on the public hearing updates, and start dreaming of your first Wisconsin Buc-ee’s haul.
