An unknown member of the press has some serious explaining to do.

It was a long eight months; it felt as long as winter is Westeros, waiting for the fifth season premier of Game of Thrones last night. For the last week, I read review after review and thought about how great it would be to have a job where you could view the world's favorite shows before anyone else. Private screening parties, red carpet events, the works.

Another perk of the job - having access to DVDs that you can copy and leak online just hours before the premier of the show. Ok, perk was maybe the wrong word; isn't pirating movies and leaking them online illegal? Yes.

Hours before the premier, the first four episodes of GoT started to appear online and quickly made its way to public pirating sites like The Pirate Bay, RARGB and Kickass Torrents. How did they get there? The theory is that the leak originates from review copies that were sent to the press.

I read the news about the online leaks early enough in the day yesterday where I could've watched all four episodes before the premier even aired at 8pm. But I didn't; for a few reasons. First, thanks to Steve Shannon, I've totally broken myself of the binge watching habit. Second, the quality of pirated movies and tv shows just isn't as great. Many of those shows are downloaded in standard quality; I'd much rather watch in HD and lastly, and most importantly, I'm a law abiding citizen. The temptation was definitely there though.

Would you try and watch your favorite shows or movies if they leaked online?
